Robot's Workshop: Episode 55 - Taking Psychic Damage... Like a chump.

I don't think you're ready to believe the amount of psychic damage I gave myself. But anyway, yes, I did make a thing for Monster Monday. The 100th week and as a farewell to Isabel's hosting, I picked a prompt from THE WHEEL OF ART PROMPTS!

And what did I choose? A mummy, of course! Isabel loves this anime called "How to keep a mummy" one of the main characters being Mii-kun, a tiny little mummy that gets in peculiar situations. I can't resist drawing this little goober at least once.

And I did indeed draw the precious scrunkly. Look at this bean. He wants hugs and cuddles.

The precious bean for reference.

Also, I am working on a second Monster Monday post. This time for cyclops. Why? Because I guess I now needed an excuse to draw Shockwave, specifically the version in the Transformers Animated continuity.

For the people who haven't seen Transformers Animated, first off, you've had nearly two decades to watch this peak fiction, second, Shockwave was a double agent who went under the guise of Longarm to weed his way through the rankings of the Autobot Elite Guard, to dismantle them from the inside, and make the Autobots an easy target for Megatron and the army of evil Decepticon rebels (only to be beaten by five underdog Autobots, led by Optimus Prime.)

Third part of this, I want to mention how great it was to get another commission. This time I worked with Matt Drakely, who is planning to make a video series project on some of the Harvest Moon games. He had me draw him with the characters outfits (by which I understood about 50 percent.) You see, I thought I had to draw him in the same style... Somehow my brain glossed over the character's outfit.

References in order: Style 1, Style 2, and Matt Drakely, himself.

In the second half of this part, I have to show the iterations of what I made, as every paid work is. The prototypes and the final products.

Style 1 felt incredibly simple. While I didn't have to replicate it outright, it's simple.

As far as feedback goes, He requested for there to be less skin, so I added more shirt.

Style 2... This is the part where I took 900 psychic damage. You see, I completely thought I still had to match the style when the reference for Style 2 was potato quality. To paraphrase that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse meme: Good news, we didn't need the detail.
Forget how off some of it looks, I'm more concerned of how I worked too hard trying to get the form and shading right. All I needed to do was just give the rough idea... oops! (Woulda helped if I had remembered Chapter 2, Page 16 §9: Always ask questions! Don't go in with no questions asked.) Some styles are just hard to make.
So, I made it simpler, gave a few flares of my own. While still faithful.
Slight tweaks.

I was also told there were some transparency artifacts and color bleeding, which is hard to notice when not zoomed in.
And this is the final product. Suffice to say, I think this worked out well. Now to use my hard-earned money on something I like... (maybe put it into paying for a pre-order of LEGO 2K Drive.)
So kids, what did we learn today? "Communication is still key!"
And?
"Always ask questions!"

And finally, I would like to show you some weapons I built in Bricklink Studio. From left to right, we have, A Pan Hammer, maybe called The Critical Pan, A Rocket Mallet, Two Cyber spears, Vitruvius' Staff (The Prologue Variant, and the Definitely-not-a-chewed-up-lollipop Variant) and a Clockwork Scythe... I think. I swear, if this was LEGO-themed by default, I may be the best for designing anything.

And that is it for the week. See you next week when I'm not murdering myself, maybe I'll make more time to work on a "secret project".
